The idea for Dr Retrograde came from an excercise I developed in 2018. I gave my students one of my old first year essays to mark. I didn’t tell them it was mine. The idea was to show them that I, like most, made common writing errors that were easy to fix (if you knew what to look for). I also wanted them to consider their essay from my perspective as the marker.
Retroactively grading my old work (hence Dr Retrograde) was popular with students, so I turned it into a YouTube channel.
